Since 2020, every year the Royal Abbey of Fontevraud has a bell made to recreate the historic bell ringing. The decoration of the third bell, made by the Cornille Havard foundry and named Pétronille, was entrusted this year to the artist Makiko Furuichi.
First abbess of Fontevraud from 1115 to 1149, Pétronille De Chemillé embodies the figure of the spiritual guide. The artist chose to depict a dragon wrapped around the bell, an allusion to the snake found on the nun's crozier in the Musée des Beaux-arts in Angers, and also in the Book of Numbers in the Old Testament.

Chaque année, l’Abbaye Royale de Fontevraud fait réaliser une cloche afin de recréer la sonnerie historique. Le décor de la troisième cloche, réalisée par la fonderie Cornille Havard et nommée Pétronille, est cette année confié à l’artiste Makiko Furuichi.
Première abbesse de Fontevraud de 1115 à 1149, Pétronille de Chemillé incarne la figure du guide spirituel. L’artiste a choisi de représenter un dragon qui vient s’enrouler autour de la cloche, allusion au serpent que l’on retrouve sur la crosse de la religieuse, conservée au musée des Beaux-arts d’Angers, mais aussi dans le Livre des Nombres de l’ancien testament.
